Fine Velvet Steiff Elephant

This is an early velvet from my collection. Since the elephant was the totem and earliest Steiff animal and velvet was the earliest material, I imagine this piece to be c. 1900.
It is in wonderful condition and the felt red covering and embroidery are all original.
Both sweet and rare. Both elephants are about the same size, i.e. 5 1/2 x 6 inches.
